The dutch painter Ben Hekert was born in Hoogezand

The dutch painter Ben Hekert was born in Hoogezand-Sappeneer.He is already more than 30 year painting. He began at the age of 15 with the painting 'bird '. From his grandfather he had gotten paint and brushes for his birthday.After that very first time he liked it so much,he wanted more. He wanted to know the techniques and studied the old masters as Rembrandt and Vermeer.

In 1987, he followed lessons on the Academy Minerva Groningen. Several techniques were offered and learned him. Yet remained the oil paint. In the final exam year he wrote a scriptie over the still life.
Next to the painting of still lifes, he paints also portraits and landscapes.

Ben has exhibited within and foreign country .
